SkillsFuture

Lifelong Learning Journey with SkillsFuture Credit (SFC).

What is SkillsFuture?

SkillsFuture is a national movement to enable all Singaporeans to develop to their fullest potential throughout life. It is the national initiative to train workers to ensure that Singapore employees have the skills wanted by employers. Whichever stage of life workers are in, whether they are in their schooling years, early career, mid-career or silver years, SkillsFuture will enable them to take advantage of a wide range of opportunities – to help them realise their aspirations and attain mastery of skills.

What is the significance of SkillsFuture?

At a national level, SkillsFuture will play an important part in charting Singapore’s next phase of development towards an advanced economy and inclusive society. Every individual’s skill, passion and contribution counts.

For mid-career onwards employees, the SkillsFuture initiative also provides SkillsFuture Study Awards of up to $5,000 to help them take courses to develop specialist skills in key sectors. There are also more bite-sized courses to suit busy work schedules. In addition, it offers at least 90 percent course subsidy for MOE-funded courses and up to 90 percent for WDA-supported courses for all Singaporeans aged 40 and above. Moreover, there are cash grants of $10,000 for experienced individuals to gain mastery in their fields and train others.

For employers, the SkillsFuture initiative also accords recognition for employers who invest in employee training and career progression in the form of a SkillsFuture Employer Award. It also helps in sectoral manpower plans by mapping out education, training and career progression based on projected skills needs. The Leadership Development Initiative provides funding support to develop in-house programmes for employees with high potential. There is also guidance for SMEs on implementing measures to deepen skills of workers under the SkillsFuture Mentors. Participating companies will receive grants of up to $15,000 per trainee to offset their costs.
