What challenges and/or opportunities do you see in sustainability reporting?
SUSTAINABILITY reporting that addresses environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues is certainly a progressive move that should be further encouraged. It helps foster a climate of sustainable business practices that extends to a company’s horizontal and vertical supply chains, as reporting serves as an effective tool for companies to ensure that their suppliers also attain a certain level of sustainability.
This sort of high-quality information and disclosure is also valuable from an investor standpoint, as it promotes greater transparency and accountability amongst companies.
The fact that the Association of Banks in Singapore has recommended that member banks incorporate ESG criteria in their lending risk assessment is very encouraging.
