Keeping safe under the shadow of terrorism

 
What needs to be done to counter the growing terror threat in Singapore and the region?

IT is hard to imagine a terrorist attack in our own backyard, as we have had the privilege of living in a country known for being safe.

It is therefore all the more important that citizens and the authorities alike do not take our safety for granted. Our military and special task forces need to be expertly trained not only to handle a terrorist attack but also to pre-empt and foil potential attacks. The people of Singapore need to be vigilant as well.

International cooperation, especially with our neighbours, is essential, as Singapore is the most cosmopolitan country sitting in South-east Asia and therefore a potential target.
